Lyric Hearing Aids – What are they?
Often called invisible hearing aids, the new Lyric hearing aids are the first completely in ear, extended life hearing aid which offer a discreet, reliable hearing solution. Lyric hearing aids are designed to be worn for up to four months without needing to be removed, so you can consider the regular replacement of expensive batteries a thing of the past.

Lyric hearing aids – How do they work?
Your Lyric trained hearing professional will place the Lyric hearing aids in your ear canal during a routine office visit. No surgery or anaesthesia is required. Lyrics are programmed for each patient’s specific hearing needs and patients can adjust the volume of the device as needed.
Who should wear Lyric hearing aids?
Lyric hearings are designed for people with mild to moderately-severe hearing loss. Our Lyric trained audiologists will assess your hearing loss, ear size and shape, medical conditions and lifestyle, to determine if the Lyric hearing aid is the right choice for you. About half the people with hearing loss may be Lyric candidates.
How much do Lyric hearing aids cost?
Lyric is sold on an annual subscription basis, meaning that you will purchase one year of Lyric hearing at a time. There is no need for repairs or battery replacement. You are guaranteed to have the most advanced Lyric technology currently available, as you will be receiving new Lyric devices throughout the year.
How long do Lyric hearing aids last?
Lyric hearing aids can be worn for months at a time. However, individual replacement needs will vary as device battery life is subject to individual ear conditions.
What do Lyric hearing aids feel like?
The exterior is made of a soft material specifically designed to contour to the ear canal. This soft exterior makes Lyric comfortable to wear. After an initial adjustment period (anywhere between 7 and 14 days), most patients no longer feel their Lyric hearing aids in their ears.
Do Lyric hearing aids require any surgery?
Lyric hearing aids are not surgically implanted, they are placed and programmed in the office by our Lyric trained audiologists. No anaesthesia is required. The sizing and fitting process for Lyrics takes about one hour.
Can I take my Lyric hearing aid out myself?
Yes, Lyrics can be self-removed if necessary. You will be provided with a removal tool called the SoundLync.
Are Lyric hearing aids safe?
Lyric has been extensively studied in hundreds of clinical research patients since 2001. In 13 years of clinical monitoring there have been no reports received by the company of serious complications. Transient ear canal skin irritation generally resolves within 3-14 days and patients are able to continue wearing their Lyrics. If you experience any pain at all, or any discomfort for more than 7 days, see your healthcare provider. Lyric hearing aids were commercially launched in 2007 and have been safely worn by over 25,000 patients since then.
Can I use headsets or earbuds with my Lyric hearing aids?
External headphones and external hearing protection can be used. Do not use inserted headsets, earbuds or earplugs, because they may dislodge the device.
Can I use my mobile phone or home phone while wearing my Lyric hearing aids?
Yes, one of the benefits of Lyric’s placement is that it can be worn while talking on your mobile or home phone. In fact, Lyric hearing aids can be worn during your daily activities, such as sleeping, showering, exercising and using headphones.
Will my Lyric hearing aids set off a metal detector?
No, Lyric’s metal components are too small to set off metal detectors.
Will an MRI, X-ray or CT scan damage my Lyric hearing aids or place my ears at risk?
Your Lyric hearing aids must be removed before you have an MRI. Unlike an MRI, an X-ray or CT scan will not damage or dislodge the device because a magnet is not used. However you should inform the medical staff about the Lyric device. If an X-ray or CT scan of your ear or head is needed, the device may need to be removed. Let your doctor know that you are wearing Lyric hearing aids if you are having surgery or a medical procedure of any kind.
Can I swim while wearing my Lyric hearing aids?
Swimming and diving underwater are not recommended. If you wish to swim, talk to us about having a pair of custom moulds made, to wear while you swim. Lyric is however water resistant and so you can shower while wearing your Lyric hearing aids.
Can I fly on a plane with my Lyric hearing aids?
Yes, it is safe to fly while wearing your Lyrics.

What is the cost of a one year lyrics contract?

If so, you’ll need to speak to an audiologist there who sells the Phonak Lyric hearing aids as I’m sure the pricing will be totally different to our pricing here in the United Kingdom.
