Our audiology support services during the Coronavirus lock-down

Because of the personal nature of many of our services, there are some audiology support services we’re unable to offer at the moment. However there are many things we can still do, some of them albeit by doing them differently to how we normally do them. The two lists below hopefully help you understand what we can and can’t do for you during the lockdown.

What we can doWhat we can still do for you

    • Arrange a phone call or a virtual consultation with an audiologist if you would like to talk about any ear, hearing, or hearing aid problems that you may have.
    • We recommend Zoom as the best on-line app to enable a virtual discussion. Zoom is a cloud-based video conferencing service you can use to virtually meet with others – either by video or audio-only or both. Using this facility, the audiologist can show you how to troubleshoot any issues you may be experiencing. For help to set up and get started with Zoom, please follow this link to the Zoom website.
    • Carry out remote programming or adjustments of all Signia, Phonak Marvel or Starkey Livio aids.
    • Clean, service and re-tube all aids (including NHS aids) in-house.
    • Carry out in-house repairs. Or, if necessary, send aids off to the manufacturers who are still providing a hearing aid repair service. We will keep you updated on the turn-around timing.
    • For any of the above, the aids needing attention can be posted to us or dropped in, at a time agreed over the phone.
    • Take phone or email orders for batteries, wax guards, domes or any other accessories. These can either be posted to you, or left in a bag with your name on in our reception area, collection time once again agreed in advance.
    • If necessary, we can order replacement aids in the event of an aid being lost. Just call for a quote and to confirm the necessary arrangements.
    • Provide a loan aid in certain circumstances.

What we can't doUnfortunately, we are unable to

    • Carry out hearing tests.
    • Fit new aids with tubing, as we will not be able to measure the length required.
    • Look into anyone’s ears or perform ear wax microsuction. Please read our article Ear wax management during Covid-19 for advice on what to do if you have an ear wax problem during the lockdown, plus an explanation of why we’re unable to carry out microsuction at this time.

Audiology support services – further help

If you have any questions about any of the above or any aspect of your hearing during the Coronavirus lockdown, please get in touch with us by email, fill in our online contact form, or call us on 0345 222 0579, we’d be happy to help.

During the Coronavirus lockdown, although we are unable to see patients face to face, we are available by phone and video call and are also operating a drop-off and collect as well as a postal service for any servicing you require for your hearing aids. Please read our Covid-19 update page for more details of how this operates.
